Developing your aim
Your aim should be time-specific and measureable; it should also define the specific population of patients or other system that will be affected.
You can learn more about developing your aim through IHI Open School module QI 102: How to Improve with the Model for Improvement.
Some example aims are:
- To reduce wait times for initial assessment from 6 months to 4 months (by 01/04/2018), whilst maintaining safety and maximising service user experience and outcomes.
- Increase the number of STI screens performed each month by 50% by April 2018
- To enhance patient access by improving call answer rate to over 90% by September 2017
